Construction & Composition: These large and majestic signs and plaques are first milled out on CNC routers following tool paths created in our design lab. Each piece can take up to 8 hours to carve in detail, and once complete is hand sanded. All the components are then moved to our finishing department where stain is applied by hand. After drying, the pieces are sprayed with a sealant to lock out any moisture and prevent damage. After another round of drying the pieces are sanded again to ensure a smooth surface for the final coat of conversion varnish. Assembly is completed by hand and the finished product is boxed and filled with a cushion of foam for safe transport. All total there is about 20 steps in the production process with as many as a dozen different craftsman taking part.

Construction & Composition: Most signs and plaques are carved on our CNC carving machines, however our smaller pieces are engraved using high resolution and high powered CO2 lasers. Blanks are cut from large sheets of lumber from a mill in Minnesota practicing sustainable timber farming. After the designs have been created in computers, the graphics are passed to the lasers for etching onto the blanks. Each item is hand sanded and hand finished at our factory in Ohio. Visitors to our factory and store can see our production process from start to finish from viewing windows in our store.

Construction & Composition: Our mounted canvas print is one of the most popular items in the P. Graham Dunn collection. The mounted print is durable, inexpensive, and has the appearance of stretched canvas.

We begin by taking the print and using either a large format printer, screen printing machine, or a laser to etch the words onto the print. The print is then mounted by hand to a painted carved piece of MDF wood. Glued down and pressed flat, we hand roll a textured finish that protects the print and gives the appearance of stretched canvas. Small prints have a single sawtooth hanger on the back, while large prints have two hangers 16 inches apart or a hanging wire. Most prints have rubber bumpers on the back to keep level against the wall.
